[former] Wesleyan Methodist Association Chapel, Scotland Street, Ellesmere A Wesleyan Methodist Association chapel called "Ebenezer" was built in 1835. In the 1851 Religious Census there were said to be sittings for 140 worshippers. On census Sunday there were 41 worshippers at their morning service and 45 at their evening one, plus 6 & 8 Sunday scholars in the morning and afternoon. The chapel belonged to the United Methodist Free Church by 1867, which it probably did c. 1857. There was an agreement to sell the chapel and its yard in November 1871. On the site now is a terraced cottage which has a plaque on the wall just under the roof line. The plaque says "Ebenezer Cottages 1878 T. T." Grid ref: SJ 396346 The Wesleyan Methodist Association united with the Methodist Reform Church in 1857 to form the United Methodist Free Church.
