[former] Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, High Street, Dawley This large and somewhat imposing building of blue & yellow brick was designed by Robert Griffiths and built by Mr Bray of Finger Lane. It was built in 1860 following a fund-raising campaign. The foundation stone was laid on Easter Monday 9th April 1860 in the presence of nearly 2,000 people. Under the stone was put a bottle containing a preacher's plan, "The Watchman", "Wellington Journal" a list of subscribers to the chapel and some coins. The cost of the building was about £1,000. The chapel opened on Monday 19th November 1860. The building was demolished in 1977-8 and replaced by a new building on the same site.
