SHROPSHIRE'S NONCONFORMIST CHAPELS

[former] Alveley Primitive Methodist Chapel
[former] Primitive Methodist Chapel, corner of Chapel Road, Alveley
Following the donation of a piece of land on which to build a chapel, the foundation stone was laid on 19th July 1862. This classical style Methodist chapel opened on 19th October 1862 at a cost of just over £253, with seating for 140 worshippers. The chapel was designed and built by Mr D. Jennings, architect and builder of Mill Street, Bridgnorth. The chapel closed in February 2011 due to falling membership. It was bought by St Mary’s Parochial Church Council and converted to a community centre in 2013. You can read more about this conversion in the Shropshire Star issue of 12 April 2013.
